The Doomsday Clock has started in HBO’s first teaser trailer for Watchmen, a Damon Lindelof remix-sequel of Alan Moore’s famed graphic novel of the same name.
The short trailer teases a future where a group or cult wearing Rorschach masks ominously chants “tick tock” directly at the camera.
On the other side of a presumed conflict are the police who don masks and resemble vigilantes themselves. Regina King plays one of the lead cops and looks fantastic in her vigilante attire.
Then there’s mask-less Don Johnson who pops up to wrap the trailer with a couple charismatic clock ticks and tocks of his own.
Watchmen also stars Jeremy Irons as an older Ozymandias, Jean Smart, Tim Blake Nelson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Louis Gossett Jr.
Look for Watchmen to try and fill the Game of Thrones void when it arrives exclusively on HBO, HBO Go and HBO Now sometime this fall.
