Activision and Frito-Lay have been running a Skylanders “no purchase necessary” promotion since early April for residents of the United States. The promotion required you to call in to one of two different 800 numbers to win either an exclusive Flocked Stump Smash figure or a random single Skylander figure.
Neither Activision or Frito-Lay actively marketed the promotion. The only way to discover it – other than the Internet – was on specially marked variety-pack bags of Frito-Lay chips.
Early on the odds of calling into one of the two available 800 numbers and being chosen an instant winner were less than 50 percent. Now, those odds have changed for the better.
On Friday, Activision announced the promotion on their Facebook page and shared a high-res image of the Flocked Stump Smash. Simultaneously, everyone who started calling in to the Flocked Stump Smash number was being told they were a winner. I was able to easily win a Flocked Stump Smash for each of my kids.
According to the official rules, there are only 7,334 Flocked Stump Smash figures being produced. That’s isn’t a lot considering the number of Skylanders collectors and owners out there. Now that the Flocked Stump Smash promotion is out of the bag, the easy instant wins should start drying up real fast. Similarly, there are only 11,000 of the random Skylanders available.
