‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ Blu-ray Release Date Outed and ILM Recreating Tarkin Featurette

Evidence continues to mount for an April 4th Star Wars: Rogue One Blu-ray release date following Best Buy listing that precise date on their website.

Our confidence in this Rogue One: A Star Wars Story release date is virtually 100 percent at this point. In addition to now multiple retailers prematurely publishing the date, Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released on April 5th, 2016 with the Digital HD release coming the Friday before. Expect the Rogue One Digital HD release on Friday, March 31st.

Disney has yet to jump on the 4K bandwagon so don’t expect Star Wars: Rogue One on 4K UHD Blu-ray. However, a Blu-ray 3D version is a safe bet so expect that to be announced alongside the Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD versions in the near future.

This President’s Day also brings us a new featurette from ILM that explores the visual effects required to bring Grand Moff Tarkin back to life utilizing the action of Guy Henry and some insane CGI. The featurette coincides with the upcoming Academy Awards where Rogue One is nominated for Best Visual Effects.

We’ll share the official Rogue One: A Star Wars Story home video announcement after its made.
