AMC’s The Walking Dead Season 5 has been toying with us for a couple weeks while Rick’s gang tries to adjust to a more civilized existence. Last week’s episode was especially deceptive as it moved slowly but further fractured the apparent peace that Alexandria operates under. Last week’s episode of The Walking Dead can be summed by two words: Carol’s cookies. The episode surrounded a cocktail party that Deanna devised for Rick and the other newcomers to mingle with Alexandria’s residents and get to know them. Because Rick and his group have been in the wild for so long, they had a hard time adapting to what used to be “normal” life but isn’t anymore.
Sasha was particularly upset by the idea of casual socializing having recently witnessed the brutal death of her boyfriend and brother. The idea of acting like the world hadn’t fallen apart didn’t sit well with her and the only solace she can find right now is outside the walls that protect her.
Carol devised a plan to use the cocktail party as a cover to steal handguns from the armory. The plan worked until Jessie’s son caught her and Carol threatened the kid’s life and promised him lots of cookies if he told anyone about what he saw. Now we wonder on if Carol would actually follow through on that threat.
While Sasha remains on high alert, Rick is starting to let his guard down and made a pass a Jessie with a kiss. Daryl is also starting to loosen up and Bond with Aaron and Eric. Michonne finally hung up her sword. Others like Father Gabriel, Tara and Eugene haven’t had much dialogue since arriving at Alexandria and hopefully that’s about to change.
The official synopsis for tonight’s new episode of The Walking Dead reads, “While trying to secure a new home, Rick and his group face challenges, and question the utopia they find themselves in.”
‘Spend,’ whatever that eludes to, has a start time of 9/8c on AMC in HD high definition. AMC continues to provide free online streaming versions of each The Walking Dead episode early the following morning after they premiere on TV at the official AMC website for a very limited time.
