‘DC Universe’ Streaming Service Unveiled with Four Exclusive Series Including ‘Swamp Thing’

DC Universe Streaming Service

DC today formally announced the DC Universe streaming service that will provide its presumably paid members a host of exclusive content as part of a first-of-its king digital experience.

The backbone of that content appears to be four exclusive original series: Harley Quinn (animated), Titans, Young Justice: Outsiders (animated), and Swamp Thing.

Details are being kept under tight wraps beyond the announcement of these four new series. DC has, however, confirmed that Swamp Thing will be a live-action series executive produced by James Wan (Aquaman) and shared some additional details about the series.

  • Executive Producers: James Wan (Atomic Monster), Mark Verheiden, Gary Dauberman, Michael Clear (Atomic Monster)
  • Co-Producer: Rob Hackett (Atomic Monster)
  • Written by: Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman
  • Synopsis: When CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous – and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.
  • Release Date: 2019
