TT Games bit off a huge chunk of challenge when they decided to create a Marvel Lego video game that brings together The Avengers, X-Men, Spider-Man and more into a single open world game, Lego Marvel Super Heroes. One of the biggest challenges thus far is how to handle Spider-Man and his unique abilities as a Lego character.
In speaking with Game Informer, Arthur Parsons, Game Director for TT Games, reveals that creating Spider-Man for the game was the most satisfying technical challenge of any of the 200 plus characters that will be playable. He has been designed to do everything you would expect the webslinger to do, from swinging openly throughout New York City and sticking on any wall, to receiving alerts of nearby danger via his Spider Sense.
Parsons also fielded a question about the potential for Stan Lee to appear in the game, much like he appeared in a wonderful cameo in last year’s The Amazing Spider-Man from Activision. Parsons’ official answer is he would love to include Lee and is clearly a big fan, but right now doesn’t know if they can or not. I suspect if they did know then the publicist standing off-camera probably didn’t want him spilling the beans.
Lego Marvel Super Heroes is expected to be released this August on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii, Wii U, 3DS, DS, PS Vita and PC.
