Tonight’s NFL Sunday Night Football game on NBC is the tale of two quarterbacks headed in opposite directions. Aaron Rodgers has been on a tear for the 7-3 Green Bay Packers and has lead his team to five straight wins. Eli Manning has a different kind of streak going for the 6-4 Giants as he has not thrown a touchdown pass in his last three games, tying a career-worst.
The Packers need a win tonight to keep pace with division rivals Chicago who easily beat Minnesota earlier today. To do so, Rodgers will need to continue to throw touchdowns at a prolific pace. He has thrown 27 TDs this season against only 6 interceptions, despite being sacked 32 times. One of his favorite targets, Greg Jennings, will miss his seventh straight game due to an abdominal injury.
The Giants enjoyed a bye week last week and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Manning has never beaten the Packers during the regular season and will have the home-town crowd at his back. It’s hard to imagine Eli won’t feed off of that and come out gunning in the primetime Sunday night game.
Manning will have to face the Packers pass rush that has racked up 33 sacks so far this season, the best mark in the NFC. Last week the Packers produced five sacks against the Lions without Clay Matthews, who is expected to miss tonight’s game with a hamstring injury.
This is the kind of game that Giants wideout Victor Cruz revels in and makes big plays. If there’s anyone Eli can count on to break his touchdown-less streak, Cruz is the guy.
Those of you without television access for tonight’s game between the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants on NBC can watch the official free live online streaming option here. My prediction is the Packers pull out a fourth quarter comeback and sneak out of New York with a 3 point victory. Tonight’s NFL Sunday Night Football game kicks off at 8:20 pm EST / 5:20pm PST.
