The Dark Knight Rises prologue is rumored to tell Bane’s origin story, an assassin for The League of Shadows. He’s on a mission to take out a high value target on an airplane when something goes wrong and the plane crashes. The injuries sustained by Bane during the crash lead to him having to wear the face apparatus seen in the film, a device designed to regularly administer painkilling drugs that Bane cannot live without.
The Dark Knight Rises opens in theaters everywhere on July 20, 2012.
