Showtime Sets The Tudors Endgame

The Tudors will run for a fourth and final season next spring per an announcement made today by Showtime.

Season four will consist of 10 episodes that wrap up King Henry VIII’s tumultuous biographical story. Remarkably all 38 episodes that comprise the series are/will be penned by creator and executive producer Michael Hirst.

The completion of The Tudors free up Michael to focus on a new Camelot-centric series he’s penning for the Showtime. Given the success of The Tudors its likely the network will jump from pilot to a full season order without batting an eyelash.

Season three of The Tudors recently premiered on Showtime and will run for the next several months. Seasons one and two are already available on Blu-ray Disc in Canada but have yet to be announced for a US release.

As for Camelot, I’m envisioning a TV-version of R-rated Excalibur and would be all over that like King Henry VIII on a new wife.
