New The Dark Knight Rises Footage Recalls The Batman

New The Dark Knight Rises Footage Recalls The BatmanWarner Bros. hasn’t been shy about rolling out new The Dark Knight Rises trailers and TV spots over the past month. They have, however, taken their sweet old time releasing an uninterrupted clip from Christopher Nolan’s upcoming Batman finale film.

Last night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! saw The Dark Knight Rises co-star Joseph Gordon-Levitt take the stage and discuss the film. In it he plays John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop who stands for everything Bruce Wayne once did. Many have speculated there is more to the role that a beat cop, such as Robin, but those rumors have been repeatedly shot down.

Gordon-Levitt brought the first official clip from The Dark Knight Rises with him to Jimmy Kimmel Live! and premiered it right there on the show. The clip takes place on the eighth anniversary of the last Batman sighting and Harvey Dent’s death. Blake introduces himself to Gordon and asks about “The Batman” and why no one questions who he is.

Standing in front of what’s left of the bat signal, which Gordon has chosen to leave on the Gotham Police Department’s roof rather than take down, Gordon answers the question by saying Batman is simply “The Batman,” holding back the secret about Bruce Wayne’s sacrifice that has slowly eaten away at his conscious for eight years and counting.

It’s hard to believe we’re now only a little over a week away from The Dark Knight Rises release in theaters and IMAX on July 20. If you haven’t locked up your opening weekend tickets yet, I highly recommend you do so now and don’t want until the last minute. Otherwise The Dark Knight Rises sellouts will drive you batty.
