The next Mission Impossible film is dropping the numerical designation and will instead be called Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.
The Tom Clancy-esque name was revealed earlier today at a press conference in Dubai’s Burj Khalifa building, the tallest in the world. Director Brad Bird confirmed shooting will take place within the building.
Star Tom Cruise has never thought of the Mission Impossible films as sequels to one another and would have preferred the numbers never appeared. “When you see each one of them, I think it’s distinctive of each film-maker,” said Cruise at the presser.
Mission Impossible 4 will be released December 16, 2011.
