Harrison Ford Injured During Star Wars: Episode VII Filming

Harrison Ford Injured During Star Wars: Episode VII FilmingThe Force was not strong with Harrison Ford and Han Solo today as an accident on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII landed the actor in the hospital.

According to Variety, 71-year old Ford was hurt when he was hit by a falling hydraulic door. The result was a bad ankle injury that could possibly turn out to be a fracture. He’s currently in the hospital receiving treatment for the injury.

Lucasfilm released the following statement regarding the accident, “Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care. Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates.”

It’s unclear how many more scenes Ford had to shoot as Han Solo for director J.J. Abrams or whether the production will be affected at some point in the future.

Even if Ford is out of commission for a few weeks or even a couple months, Star Wars: Episode VII doesn’t arrive in theaters until a year from this upcoming December so there is plenty of time to finish his scenes.
