One of the most unexpected Easter Eggs buried deep within Activision and Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is a cameo appearance by Mjolnir. That’s right; Thor’s mighty hammer of the gods is in the game, but unfortunately you cannot wield its mighty power against unsuspecting foes. That would be a “surprise” they wouldn’t see coming.
The location of Thor’s hammer in Black Ops 2 is well hidden unless you know where to look, so I have cobbled together instructions to help you find it. Again, there’s no Achievement/Trophy or power earned for locating Mjolnir. Only the satisfaction granted is seeing the hefty hammer in the game and checking it off your easter egg to-do list.
You will need to start looking for Thor’s Mjolnir hammer in Mission 2: Celerium, where you must first utilize the wing-suit. In fact, the quest to find the hammer begins right as the mission gets underway. The second it begins, hang an immediate left and find the wall located there. You will then walk along the wall until a small cave appears in the left.
Once you enter the cave, use either flash bang grenades, thermal scope, or flash from a machine gun firing to add some light to the dimly lit area. You will then find the hammer sitting atop a mound of dirt just like it was first seen on earth in Marvel’s Thor movie. Too bad Treyarch didn’t build in an animation allowing you to try and pull it free. Though that might have frazzled Marvel’s lawyers and sprung them into action.

Thor’s hammer is also expected to appear in the Wii U version of Black Ops 2 that arrives in stores on Sunday, November 18, timed to coincide with Nintendo’s launch of its new console.
