Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 starring Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner was officially announced to debut on Blu-ray and DVD earlier today, and only popped up for pre-order at Amazon.com a few hours ago. Already the Blu-ray pre-orders have cracked the top 10 proving Twi-hards love their high definition, too.
The discount for pre-ordering Breaking Dawn Part 2 on Blu-ray is pretty steep right out the gate. Amazon has it priced at $19.96 or a clean 50% off the $39.99 list price. I don’t expect it to fall any further between now and the March 2, 2013 release date.
It will be interesting to watch Breaking Dawn Part 2 on Amazon’s Blu-ray bestsellers chart to see if its early entry into the top 10 is an initial rush for pre-orders or if sales will stay steady and it remains in the top 10 from now through its release. I wouldn’t be surprised if Breaking Dawn Part 2 jumps a few more spots by tomorrow afternoon.
It’s important to note the Breaking Dawn Part 2 Blu-ray does not include the film on DVD. It does, however, include a digital copy and UltraViolet, as does the single-disc DVD version. Jump back a few years ago and there’s no way Blu-ray pre-orders would have cracked the top 10 yet.
