Weekend Box Office Prophet Game: All About Steve or Gamer?

Three very different newcomers are squaring off this weekend unlike last week where a pair of horror films waged war. Gamer with Gerard Butler is going after the guys, All About Steve with Sandra Bullock the girls, and Extract with Jason Bateman and Mila Kunis - on the fewest screens - hopes everyone is up for a few good R-rated laughs.

The last two slots go to those horror films, Halloween 2 and The Final Destination, which now face the dreaded second week drop.

Once your predictions are entered you'll be able to return to this page and follow your best guesses versus those of the Prophet (me) and the cumulative average of the other players. Next Monday evening the final results will be published (view last week's results in a new window) and then the next game will launch the following morning.

Sandra Bullock's comeback movie The Proposal cleared $33 million its opening weekend. Can lighting strike twice or was Ryan Reynolds that film's real draw? Playing on 2,000 screens.

Mike Judge is hoping for another Office Space cult hit with Jason Bateman, Ben Affleck and Mila Kunis backing him up. Playing on only 1,600 screens will be an uphill battle.

Gamer
Lionsgate's latest gritty testosterone charged thriller stars 300's Gerard Butler. It should benefit from being the only new action flick and playing on the most screens of the three newcomers: 2,300.

The Final Destination
3D ticket sales helped this soar to a $27.4 million opening weekend. Horror films are more prone to dramatic second week drops and this will be its second weekend. Then again, it is the lone 3D option out there right now.

Halloween 2 (2009)
Early talks of a Halloween 3D might provide a little boost heading into weekend #2. The hardcore Rob Zombie fans have likely already seen the film. A more than 50% drop from its $16.3 opening weekend is anticipated.
