Weekend Box Office Predictions Game: Bridesmaids Battle Vampires

In our weekly Weekend Box Office Prophet Game, your goal is to predict to the best of your abilities what these three films along with Jumping the Broom and Fast Five will make at the box office this upcoming Friday through Sunday. Your predictions will then be averaged in with the other players to go up against our Prophet predictions.

Should The Prophet win 3 or more of the films then the Blu-ray prize jackpot will roll into the next round. If the players win the majority of films, as they did in the last round by a commanding 4-1 margin, then the top player finisher wins everything. Congratulations go out to Prca for winning Jackass 3, The Fighter and Morning Glory on Blu-ray. A new prize pot starts this round with Skyline on Blu-ray.

Bridesmaids Judd Apatow's latest production is being called "The Hangover for girls" and could mark the beginning of many more leading lady roles for Saturday Night Live's Kristen Wiig. The R-rating and gross-out humor will turn off some women and limit Bridesmaids' potential. It opens on 2,700 screens. All: $22.8   Me: n/a   Prophet: $18.7   Actual: $26.2 Priest 3D Sony Screen Gems has decided not to hold press screenings for Priest in 3D which is never a good sign for any film, much less one in the supernatural action genre. 3D should give Priest a boost, as will the deliberate counter-programming against Bridesmaids. It opens on over 2,800 screens. All: $18.5   Me: n/a   Prophet: $15.9   Actual: $15.0 Thor Thor roared to a $65.7 million opening last weekend and is expected to take the top spot yet again despite the new competition from Bridesmaids and Priest. Somewhere in the neighborhood of a 50% drop for Thor is expected given how it has played the past several days and how other Marvel movies have fared after their debuts. All: $33.0   Me: n/a   Prophet: $31.2   Actual: $34.7 Fast Five Fast Five suffered a big 62.4% drop from its first weekend to its second, falling down to $32.4 million from $86.2 million. Thor was part of the reason for that drop, and Priest might eat into those numbers even more. For reference, Fast and Furious dropped 57% from its second to its third weekend. All: $16.1   Me: n/a   Prophet: $14.1   Actual: $20.4 Jumping the Broom Jumping the Broom jumped right past expectations last weekend and opened with a convincing $15.2 million. It will have a tough time reaching double-digits again with Bridesmaids on the scene, not to mention it has been running behind Something Borrowed this week.
