![]() The Fast and the Furious Blu-ray Trilogy AnnouncedJanuary 26, 2009 Three more former HD DVD high-def exclusives will make their way onto Blu-ray Disc in March when Universal releases The Fast and the Furious Trilogy.
The March 24 release date is less than two weeks before Universal releases the fourth film in the series, Fast & Furious, in theaters. That film will likely find its way to Blu-ray in early fall. Universal is hoping you'll see the fourth film theatrically and is dangling $7.50 worth of Movie Cash to see Fast & Furious in this set. None of the first three Fast and the Furious films will be available on Blu-ray Disc outside of the box set. It is an all or nothing deal so if you want the first film then you have to shell out for the inferior sequels as well. Each film will be presented in widescreen 1080p video and an upgraded 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio mix not found on the HD DVD versions. In addition, D-BOX Motion Code will be included on each film, another Blu-ray advantage over HD DVD. Also exclusive to Blu-ray is a digital copy of each film housed on a separate disc. Instead of a three-disc set, the digital copies push it to six discs. The bonus features are extensive, take advantage of BD-Live and appear to include everything found on the HD DVD versions.
The Fast and the Furious Trilogy on Blu-ray carries a steep retail price of $99.98 which is identical to how they priced The Bourne Trilogy set. I hope to add cover art and Amazon pre-order information as soon as its available. Browse all Amazon.com Blu-ray pre-orders
