What appears to be a cropped snapshot from a home video industry trade publication advertisement has made its way online giving us the first look at what is likely the final cover art for The Dark Knight on Blu-ray Disc.

The image comes courtesy of our friends over at DVDTown.com, who also report confirming a December 9 release date. If you recall, we first reported this date way back on April 18 (read story), and then again on August 13 (read story).

It would appear from the image that The Dark Knight will be offered as a two-disc set in a slipcover package. We wouldn't be surprised to see a second Blu-ray edition materialize with a higher price point and extra pack-in goodies and will hopefully find out soon enough if that turns out to be the case.

We still think The Dark Knight is the perfect catalyst to push Blu-ray right before Christmas and hold out hope Sony and Warner can come to an agreement to bundle the two together (read story).
