Click here to pre-order The Dark Knight Rises on Blu-ray for $25.19 at Amazon.com. Update: Warner Home Video has issued a press released spelling out all the details for The Dark Knight Rises on Blu-ray, as well as The Dark Knight Trilogy Limited Edition Giftset and, coming in 2013, The Dark Knight Trilogy Ultimate Collector's Edition. The Dark Knight Trilogy Limited Edition Giftset will include Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. Exclusive to this set is a premium book that digs deep into the trilogy's production. The SRP for this set is $52.99. The Dark Knight Rises Blu-ray, DVD and UltraViolet combo pack, as well as the Batman Cowl limited edition packaging upgrade, will feature the film in 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio and 1080p video. For the IMAX portions of the film, running approximately a full hour when combined, Warner has created a "marriage of IMAX and 35mm formats by using the hybrid master to replicate the unique theatrical experience of integrated film formats." Cover art has been added to the bottom of this post, and the SRP is set at $35.99 for the standard version and $39.99 for the Bat Cowl package. All of the following bonus features are exclusive to Blu-ray except for The Journey of Bruce Wayne:
Original article: The Dark Knight Rises starring Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Anne Hathaway and Gary Oldman will rise on Blu-ray and DVD when its now confirmed December 4, 2012 release date arrives. That's right; no December 3 release as a Warner YouTube video had previously suggested. The Dark Knight Rises will land on a more traditional Tuesday release date. According to the exclusive reveal at EW, the Blu-ray edition will be packed with a DVD and UltraViolet, as well as a bevy of bonus features. Some of those extras include a batmobile documentary that traces the history of the famous superhero car through its various incarnations; Ending the Knight, a documentary comprised of roughly 17 featurettes that details the making of the film; The Journey of Bruce Wayne featurette; an art gallery; and trailers. No word yet on any deleted scenes or extra footage. I wouldn't hold your breath. Hardcore Batman and Christopher Nolan fans can opt for The Dark Knight Rises limited edition package that includes a replica of the Batman cowl that Bane crushes in the film. How limited and how to scale the cowl is remains to be seen. I expect Warner Bros. to make their full The Dark Knight Rises announcement either tomorrow or early next week. Retailers including Amazon.com should begin taking pre-orders shortly thereafter. ![]()
