The Blob, Terrence Malick's Badlands and More Coming to Criterion Collection Blu-ray

Criterion have announced their March 2013 Blu-ray slate and its got some high profile titles in it that are sure to be gobbled up upon release.

Headlining the March 2013 Criterion Collection Blu-ray releases is Terrence Malick's directorial debut, Badlands, on March 19. According to Criterion, the story of serial killers Charles Starkweather and Caril Ann Fugate as played by Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek, respectively, is one of their most requested titles of all time. It comes to Blu-ray in with a new 4K digital restoration, with an uncompressed monaural soundtrack. Bonus features include:

Making Badlands, a new documentary featuring actors Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek and production designer Jack Fisk
New interview with editor Billy Weber about director Terrence Malick's unique approach to editing
New interview with producer Edward Pressman

Next up is the 1958 creature classic The Blob starring Steve McQueen and a big pike of goo, due to arrive on March 12. It gets a new high-definition digital restoration, with an uncompressed monaural soundtrack as well. Extras are comprised of:

Two audio commentaries: one by producer Jack H. Harris and film historian Bruce Eder and the other by director Irvin S. Yeaworth Jr. and actor Robert Fields

Also due to join the Criterion Collection in March on Blu-ray are Charlie Chaplin's Monsieur Verdoux and Robert Bresson's A Man Escaped on March 26, Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger's British film The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp on March 19, and Fritz Lang's Ministry of Fear on March 12.
