As the release date has approached, we have been kept in the dark as to what exactly would fall onto each home video release. Now we know, and the answer heavily favors purchasing the Blu-ray 3D edition.
Let's start with what's the same between the four-disc Blu-ray 3D Collector's Edition and two-disc Blu-ray edition of Prometheus. Both editions will come in "premium packaging," Fox's words, not mine, and include the DVD and a digital copy. The theatrical cut of the film (there is no director's cut) will be presented in 1080p video and 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Where the specs start to differ are in the bonus features. The following extras will be available on both Blu-ray editions:
