NBA Opening Night Free Live Stream: Boston Celtics at Miami Heat

Tonight the 2012-13 NBA basketball season tips off with a trio of games on TNT. The Washington Wizards play at the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first game, while the Dallas Mavericks take on the Los Angeles Lakers with new acquisitions Steve Nash and Dwight Howard in the late game. But it's the middle game between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat that offers the most intrigue.

During this past offseason, Ray Allen shocked the basketball world when he broke up the core star players in Boston to join the Miami Heat as a free agent. Celtics players and fans were most displeased with Allen not only leaving so abruptly, but going to a big Eastern Conference competitor the same time. It's a good thing tonight's game is in Miami or the boos would be raining down on Allen like he's never heard before. That will come later in the season.

Before tonight's game gets underway, the Heat will accept their championship rings from last season and all eyes will be on Lebron James as he takes hold of his first. The big question now hovering over Lebron is if this ring is the first of many or the beginning of the end of his reign. I think the league will be surprised if Lebron isn't hoisting his second NBA Championship trophy at the end of this season.

The Celtics enter the enemy's lair tonight without Allen, but they've added Jason Terry and will have Jeff Green back from surgery. Terry is the type of player who can give opposing defenders fits with his sweet shot just like Allen so don't count this Boston team out. In fact, they will come into tonight hungry to steal a win and show Ray Allen that he chose the wrong team.

Right now it's hard to make any prediction involving Lebron James and bet against him. James was dominant in last year's NBA Finals and carried that momentum forward into the Summer Olympics and a Gold Medal. He is proving his critics wrong and still getting better. It's hard to imagine Lebron allowing his team to lose its home opener. I have to pick the Heat to pull this one out, even if by a slim margin.
