In author Suzanne Collins' Catching Fire book as well as the series finale Mockingjay, Beetee becomes an integral part of the plot due to his expertise with electronics and wiring, and earns the nickname "Volts" as a result. In Catching Fire, he is a former winner from District 3 who participates in the 75th annual Hunger Games, a deadly all-star game of sorts which proves pivotal to the future of Panem and President Snow's reign.
Wright is a well-traveled actor whom has appeared in television, film and on the stage. In 1994, Wright won a Tony Award for his work in Angels in America. More recently you may have spotted him in the past two James Bond films, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, as well as Syriana and Cadillac Records.
Before he appears as Beetee in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Wright will next be seen in Broken City with Russell Crowe and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is currently in production and will make its way to theaters on November 22. In addition to Jeffrey Wright and Jennifer Lawrence, the film will feature newcomers Alan Ritchson as Gloss, Stephanie Leigh Schlund as Cashmere, Bruno Gunn as Brutus, Amanda Plummer as Wiress, Meta Golding as Enobaria, Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee, Sam Clafin as Finnick, Lynn Cohen as Mags, Jena Malone as Johanna Mason, E. Roger Mitchell as Chaff, and Maria Howell as Seeder. Returning cast members joining Lawrence are Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Donald Sutherland, Woody Harrelson, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci, Toby Jones, and Willow Shields.
