Hitchcock's Psycho Celebrating 50th Anniversary on Blu-ray

Continuing a previous story signaling a pre-order for Psycho on Blu-ray Disc at online retailer Amazon.com, this morning I have some more information to share with you about this upcoming classic release.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment is bringing Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho to Blu-ray in celebration of the film's 50th Anniversary. It will be released October 19 exclusively on Blu-ray with an all-new 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track and the original mono mix. The date is a little later than initially thought and obviously aligned to coincide with the Halloween season.

I do not have packaging artwork to share but I do have a list of the lengthy bonus features Universal will be including with this single-disc release. "Universal Studios BluWave Audio (Universal's in-house post production sound facility) started the re-mastering process with the film's previously preserved and restored soundtrack to create a new 5.1 mix, shared Universal in regards to the updated audio. "BluWave then contracted Audionamix, a Paris-based audio technology company, to split the original mono music source into quasi-orchestral tracks. Audionamix, a leader in soundtrack separation, then applied their breakthrough proprietary technology enabling BluWave to create a discrete 5.1 split music mix."
