Green Lantern Movie Green Lit; Shooting 10 Weeks Out

The Green Lantern's ring received a shot of glow today as word has hit the web that the feature film based on the DC Comics character has been green lit.

The news comes from The Green Lantern movie visual effects supervisor Karen Goulekas who shared the joy via her blog.

Green Lantern got the official green light today! And not a second too soon - only 10 weeks out from shooting," Karen wrote. "While it's great news we are a go - now we have to actually get our prep done in 10 weeks!"

The Green Lantern was originally slated to begin production in Australia last year before costs drove it to the States where it eventually landed in New Orleans. Ryan Reynolds, who also is tapped to portray Deadpool for Fox, will play The Green Lantern and don the glowing green ring with Martin Campbell set to direct. Other casting selections should come fast and furious with shooting aiming to begin in March.
