Bond on Blu-ray Amazon Exclusive Steelbooks; Moonraker Confirmed

January 19, 2009

Amazon.com has begun taking pre-orders on the next volume of classic James Bond on Blu-ray Disc films that contradicts information released by Australian retailer EzyDVD.

According to the Amazon listings, the third volume of 007 James Bond classics will include Goldfinger, Moonraker and The World is Not Enough and be released on March 24 to coincide with Quantum of Solace on Blu-ray. EzyDVD did not have Moonraker appearing in volume three or four.

Each of the volume three titles at Amazon are available individually or in the bundled volume three set. Additionally, Amazon is listing steelbook versions for each volume three title as Amazon exclusives for an additional $3.50 per title. Steelbooks are popular overseas for Blu-ray titles but have yet to penetrate North American audiences.

At this time there is no information indicating when volume four will be released. Volumes one and two were released simultaneously last fall.

I've broken out each of the pre-order listings for the new Bond titles, including Quantum of Solace which has just become available, below. Images of the Steelbooks follow.

Fox and MGM are expected to formally announced these titles in the coming days. The full announcements with disc specs will be passed along as soon as available.
