Star Wars: The Force Awakens Spoilers Served by Three New Character Images

Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens

Greg Grunberg, who many of you know best as playing Matt Parkman in NBC’s Heroes and who will be returning in a limited capacity for the new miniseries, will have a role in not only Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, but also Star Wars: Episode VIII and Star Wars: Episode IX.  Grunberg has been forthcoming about his role on social media including claiming that he wears no prosthetics and filmed for seven weeks total. Who he is playing has remained a mystery and we’ve been clamoring to find out the details.

Thanks to Star Wars 7 News, we now know not only Grunberg’s character but two other familiar faces from Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi that are coming back for another round against the bad guys. All three of these characters will be fighting on the same side and could be seen on screen in the same scene.

Starting with the returning characters, publicity stills of slightly aged Admiral Ackbar and Nien Numb have surfaced. Ackbar, as you recall, was Paramount in the Rebellion’s victory over the Empire at the second Death Star. “It’s a trap!” will live on forever. Nien Numb played co-pilot to Lando Calrissian in the Millennium Falcon during the harrowing flight into the second Death Star’s reactor core.

What’s great about both of these photos is they are of real people in costumes and not CGI-imagery. This falls right in line with how J.J. Abrams has approached Star Wars Episode 7 since day one. Also note that both are wearing similar yet different outfits from how we last remember them.

The good Admiral and Nien Numb, that we can only assume have been promoted over the past 30 years in their new battle with the Resistance against the First Order, will be fighting alongside Greg Grunberg as X-Wing pilot Gorwyn. Grunberg’s deal for three films insinuates that Gorwyn could become the Wedge of the new Star Wars trilogy, the unsung hero who always makes it out alive and may even save Poe Dameron from an early demise once or twice.

Grunberg has already confirmed that his character will be getting a Hasbro action figure and I’d be shocked if Nien Numb and Admiral Ackbar didn’t considering their clout with Star Wars fans. Of course nothing is considered concrete until confirmed by Lucasfilm but the visual evidence speaks for itself.
