Twentieth Century Fox has dropped the Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials trailer 2 following a buildup that saw a total of six character posters released over the course of the past week.
The sequel stars Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Ki Hong Lee, Patricia Clarkson and Thomas Brodie-Sangster in a post-apocalyptic battle between the Gladers, young resistance fighters, and WCKD, an organization whose motives with the Gladers are shrouded in mystery. In Scorch Trials, the Gladers have escaped the maze from the original film but soon discover that their struggles to outwit and take down WCKD have just begun.
Joining the franchise in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials are veteran actors Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) and Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones), along with Barry Pepper and Lili Taylor.
Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is directed by Wes Bell, who also directed the original film, and arrives in theaters on September 18. I highly recommend checking out the original film as it was a pleasant surprise in the young adult book-to-film arena that has been far more flops grace the silver screen than legitimate hits like The Hunger Games and Twilight.
