This Thursday is shaping up to be one of the most epic days ever for geeky movie trailer public reveals if the following Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer scoop floating around pans out.
We already know that Lucasfilm will likely release a second Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens trailer on Thursday either during or shortly after the Star Wars Celebration kick-off panel with director J.J. Abrams and producer Kathleen Kennedy. The Internet will be glued to their computers for the online debut, especially with the event being live streamed. It’s a marketers dream, and Warner Bros. is acting upon the opportunity.
El Mayimbe of Latino Review dropped a scoop on Instagram earlier this evening claiming that director Zack Snyder will pop online roughly an hour before the Star Wars Celebration streaming begins. He will tease the world and set the Internet on fire with a five-second snippet of footage from the forthcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer.
The scoop continues by claiming you will be able to sign-up to view the trailer in select theaters beginning next week after watching the tease. The trailer will also be sent to theaters so that — at a theater’s discretion — it can be attached to prints of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Recall that earlier reports suggested the trailer would be attached to prints of Mad Max: Fury Road.
Assuming this is all true, and I do with respect to the detail involved in El Mayimbe’s report and additional tweets by theater employees claiming they’ve received word of the incoming trailer, then the only remaining question is when will the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer arrive online. Given the timeline of events I would expect Warner Bros. to release it sometime next week, potentially early on Monday to avoid the inevitable crappy cell phone versions popping up on YouTube and other video sites.
