An excruciatingly long wait for new Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice footage finally came to an official end tonight as the midseason finale of Gotham delivered the first fresh look we’ve had at the upcoming DC Cinematic Universe sequel in months.
Warner Brothers has been keeping new Dawn of Justice footage close to the vest following the latest trailer released this past summer while other big winter releases like Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Hunger Game: Mockingjay – Part 2 have gobbled up all the attention. With the latter due in a few weeks and the former having already debuted, the time for Batman and Superman to step out of the shadows and into consumers minds has arrived.
This new Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice sneak peek plays like an uninterrupted clip. In it, a chained-up and frightened Batman (Ben Affleck) is approached by a perturbed Batman (Henry Cavill) in some sort of underground desert hideout. Superman stares at Batman for a moment, rips off his cowl to reveal an intense Bruce Wayne, then the clip ends.
Is the clip part of a dream sequence? The hazy lighting might suggest so but we might not find out definitively until the film arrives in March 2016.
The wait for more new Batman v Superman footage can thankfully be counted in hours rather than months. Following tonight’s sneak peek at the conclusion of Gotham, Warner Brothers revealed that the next Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer will premiere during Jimmy Kimmel Live! this Wednesday, December 2 at 11:35 pm EST.
That means Kimmel landed the first Captain America: Civil War trailer and new Dawn of Justice trailer in a week’s time. The comic book movie war is on!
