There’s good news and bad news for amiibo collectors who wanted the Skylanders amiibo figures to complete their collection. What side of the fence you fall on depends on whether you plunked down your hard earned cash for the Wii U and Wii/3DS Skylanders SuperChargers Starter Packs for no other reason than to score the exclusive amiibo.
Activision has paired up Hammer Slam Bowser and his Clown Cruiser vehicle, as well as Turbo Charge Donkey Kong and his Barrel Blaster vehicle, in new Skylanders amiibo two-packs that are now shipping to all major retailers. If you had been holding out on grabbing they Skylander amiibo figures then you’re now in luck.
However, if you fell into the Starter Pack buyer crowd then I hope you gave the game a try and enjoyed it.
Each of the two two-packs is priced at $24.99 each and are starting to trickle into stores now. If you’re in the hunt then be patient and don’t pay inflated aftermarket prices.
That said, if you’re building a packaged amiibo collection and spot these in a store then I’d fork out the $50 and grab them immediately as there’s no telling how long Activision will ship these.
