Disney Infinity 2.0 Black Suit Spider-Man Exclusive to PS Vita Starter Pack

Disney Infinity 2.0 Black Suit Spider-Man

They Infinity franchise will be going somewhere it has never gone before with the introduction of the Disney Infinity 2.0 Black Suit Spider-Man figure in summer 2015.

Disney Interactive held a half-hour panel at the PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas, Nevada earlier today with the promise of revealing a first-look at a new upcoming figure. Technically Black Suit Spider-Man is a new figure, though he’s also a repaint of the regular Spider-Man figure with his in-game version already available using the corresponding Power Disc.

What sets Black Suit Spider-Man apart from Yondu and Falcon, two other upcoming figures that already appear in the game via Power Discs, is his availability. In a franchise first, Black Suit Spider-Man will only be available by purchasing the Disney Infinity 2.0 Starter Pack for PS Vita, due in May 2015.

This tactic of placing a repainted exclusive figure inside a singular console-specific Starter Pack dates back to the first Skylanders game, Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure. The Nintendo 3DS version of that game’s Starter Pack came with an exclusive Dark Spyro repaint that ended up selling for more than half of the Starter Pack price.

The PS Vita edition of Disney Infinity 2.0 Marvel Super Heroes needs all the assistance it can get to move product at retail. The game is arriving eight months after the other versions launched on a platform with a small install base. By the time it arrives in stores, Disney Infinity 3.0 will have been announced and garnering all the franchise attention.

There are still two Disney Infinity 2.0 – Disney Originals figures yet to be announced. Rumors suggest they might be Belle and the Beast, but there’s no evidence backing those claims. The only hint we have received is that one of the figures is female.

Pricing for Disney Infinity 2.0 Marvel Super Heroes is not yet available, though expect a price less than the console versions given it comes with only one figure as opposed to three, as well as the Amazing Spider-Man Play Set in place of The Avengers Play Set.
