With Disney Infinity 2.0 Marvel Super Heroes hitting stores this week and Activision’s Skylanders Trap Team less than two weeks from its formal launch, Nintendo is starting to make some moves as it prepares to enter the massive Toys to Life gaming genre in the coming months.
Toys “R” Us has been a major retail partner for both Skylanders and Disney Infinity, and the same relationship could be budding with Nintendo’s upcoming Amiibo Toys to Life figures. A massive Amiibo pre-order promotional display has been spotted in a brick-and-mortar Toys “R” Us store that tells us the toy retailer is very much on the Amiibo train, and the figures should arrive in stores before Christmas, otherwise why dedicate so much shelf space to the pre-order display now.

What we really need regarding Amiibo at this time is more information. Nintendo has been especially tight-lipped about what Amiibo figures can and cannot do and we’re rapidly approaching when they’re expected to arrive. A new Nintendo Direct focused on the Super Smash Bros. Wii U version, the first game to support Amiibo, is hopefully in the can and will debut within the next few weeks at the latest.
