Warner’s 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Line to Launch with Mad Max: Fury Road and More

Warner's 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray

Ultra HD Blu-ray with 4K resolution is certain to be a huge topic at CES this week and Warner Brothers has joined Fox Home Entertainment and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment in preemptively announcing their 2016 release plans ahead of the big show.

Warner Brothers is kicking off their Ultra HD Blu-ray line featuring High Dynamic Range (HDR) with The LEGO Movie, PAN, San Andreas, and the cream of the crop, Mad Max: Fury Road. The anticipated release date for these titles is sometime in the first half of this year, possibly as early as March or April.

As with the launch of Blu-ray roughly a decade ago, additional titles will be released throughout the inaugural year. These titles will total 35 in number and includes a mix of new theatrical films released day-and-date with their Blu-ray counterparts as well as select catalog titles.

We still don’t know what the first Ultra HD Blu-ray players to arrive in the marketplace will cost or what each of these new Ultra HD Blu-ray films will cost. Chances are you’ll need deep pockets in order to become an early adopter between a TV (the prices are starting to come down), player and discs.

CES should fill in all the Ultra HD Blu-ray gaps over the coming days, and we’ll update with all the launch details when they are made available.
