Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey 4K

Warner Home Video has finally dated Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release for October 30th in conjunction with the film’s 50th anniversary after teasing it late last year.

A separate remastered Blu-ray will also be packaged with the 4K edition as well as sold separately. Also sold separately on October 30th is a 4K UHD Digital version.

The new 2001: A Space Odyssey 4K Ultra HD transfer with HDR is based on the unrestored 70mm print that is being brought back to theaters this summer for limited engagements. The 4K remaster is based directly off the 65mm original camera negative with mastering work overseen by Christopher Nolan.

Audio on the 2001: A Space Odyssey 4K UHD Blu-ray includes both a remixed and restored 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track, and the original 1968 6-track theatrical mix formatted for DTS-HD Master Audio.
