Release Date Rumors: The Hunger Games Mockingjay, The Hobbit 3, Interstellar and More Blu-rays

Ready for another edition of Blu-ray release date rumors? This collection of release dates furnished courtesy of scooper Josh has some big names so buckle up and get ready for a first glimpse into where your hard earned dollars might be headed over the next few months.

A busy March in the land of Blu-ray, DVD and Digital releases kicks off on March 3 with the debut of Foxcatcher (pre-order at Amazon) starring Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo. This date has already been confirmed by Amazon.com.

One of the biggest movies of 2014 was Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 (pre-order at Amazon) starring Jennifer Lawrence. We’re now exactly two months removed from the film’s theatrical debut and in a prime window for the Blu-ray, DVD and Digital plans to be made public. Expect The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 Blu-ray release date to be formally announced before this month is out, and expect that release date to fall on Friday, March 6. Another holiday title will arrive in stores a few days after Hunger Games in the form of Fox’s Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, or simply Night at the Museum 3. This sequel, which happens to be one of Robin Williams’ final roles before his untimely death, currently has a planned March 10 release date.

Also arriving on March 10 is Sony’s Annie (pre-order at Amazon) remake starring Quvenzhane Wallis.

Foxcatcher cover artAngelina Jolie’s Unbroken (pre-0rder at Amazon) will break into stores on March 24 with a minimum of two deleted scenes and a selection of bonus features.

Warner Bros. has chosen March 24 as the Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD release date for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (pre-order at Amazon). As any collector of The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings Blu-rays knows, Peter Jackson’s extended edition will be available either later this year or early next year. Expect the big The Hobbit three-film box set of all the extended editions the same time.

Wrapping up March is the Interstellar Blu-ray release date on March 31. This date has been confirmed by online retailer Amazon.com’s Canadian arm so expect an announcement within the next few weeks.

Here is a potential early peek at the American Sniper Blu-ray release date. The record-breaking film from Clint Eastwood starring Bradley Cooper is already available for pre-order, and May 19 is where the release date is looking it will land.

Birdman starring Michael Keaton, Edward Norton and Emma Stone is set for March 17, and you can check out the trade ad below.
