Fury Starring Brad Pitt Digital HD Release Date One Month Ahead of Blu-ray and DVD

Director David Ayer’s World War II tank drama Fury starring Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Jon Bernthal and Michael Pena is rumbling onto Digital HD a full month before it makes its way to Blu-ray and DVD.

Sony Pictures has announced the Fury Digital HD release date is December 30, just in time to kick back and watch it legally at home over New Years. The Fury Blu-ray and DVD release date won’t arrive until January 27, 2015.

Unfortunately Fury got caught up in the recent hack of Sony Pictures’ computer systems and was leaked online. Hundreds of thousands — if not millions — of people chose to watch Fury online streaming from file sharing sites that illegally post full movies. We don’t condone that activity whatsoever, so please support the studio and this film by viewing it through legal channels.

I don’t have Fury tech specs for the Blu-ray and Digital HD combo pack to share at this time. I can pass along the Fury Blu-ray bonus features:

  • More than 50 minutes of Deleted & Extended Scenes
  • Photo Gallery
  • Three All-new Featurettes:
    • “Director’s Combat Journal” – David Ayer gives an account of the months spent in the English countryside shooting, finding antique tanks to drive and managing the scale of production that a WWII movie demands.
    • “Armored Warriors: The Real Men Inside the Shermans” – Some of the real-life soldiers who lived and fought day-to-day in a Sherman tank reflect on their WWII experience.
    • “Taming the Beast: How to Drive, Fire, & Shoot Inside a 30-Ton Tank” – Experts demonstrate how the giant Sherman tanks operate and fire. In this featurette, the camera also goes inside the tank to bring an in-depth, point-of-view experience, along with cast and crew reflections on filming in the “human sardine can.”
  • “Blood Brothers” featurette – The cast and crew discuss their roles and on-set dynamics.

Note that of all these bonus features, only the last one is available on the standalone DVD edition of Fury.

Fury’s action scenes should rock on Blu-ray, and you can pre-order Fury on Blu-ray and Digital combo right now for a hefty discount at Amazon.com. Also check below for the Fury Blu-ray cover art and a trailer to whet your appetite.
